How to play Never Have I Ever as a couple

Never Have I Ever is a confession game. Each prompt finishes the sentence "Never have I ever", and each of you says whether you have or have not. With only two players there is nowhere to hide, which is the point.

Pick a heat level. Light is selected when you arrive, and you can switch to Flirty or Steamy whenever the mood changes.
Tap Next prompt. The card shows a statement that completes the sentence.
Both of you answer out loud: I have, or I have not. Answer together on a count of three if you want to keep each other honest.
If one of you has, the other gets one follow-up question. Tell the whole story or keep it short.
Tap Next prompt for a new card. No prompt repeats in one sitting, and the counter shows how many of the 50 you have seen.
Keep score only if you want to. A common house rule: hold up five fingers and put one down for every "I have". The first to make a fist picks the next movie.

What each heat level means

The three levels change how personal the prompts get, not how the game works. Start wherever feels comfortable and move up only when you both want to.

Light is the warm-up. Small confessions, daily habits and embarrassing moments, the kind of thing you could play on the sofa with the TV on. It suits a new relationship or the start of an evening.

Flirty turns the questions toward attraction: crushes, first kisses, the looks you thought went unnoticed. Expect teasing and a few surprised faces, but nothing you would feel uneasy saying out loud.

Steamy is for when the doors are closed. The prompts hint at fantasies, bold moments and things you might like to try together. They stay suggestive, so how much detail you add is up to you.

You can change level between any two cards. Many couples play ten Light prompts first, then move up one step at a time.

Keeping it fun for both of you

The game works best when a confession is met with curiosity, not a verdict. An "I have" about life before you met is a story, not a charge to answer. Laugh, ask one question, move on.

Either of you can skip a prompt or stop the game at any time, with no explanation owed. Agree on that before the first card and it becomes easy to use. A skipped prompt is not a clue about anything.

Match the level to the mood you are both in. If one of you wants Steamy and the other is still on Light, stay on Light. You can always go up later, and coming down a level is fine too.

Follow-up questions are where the good conversations start, but keep them to one or two. Nobody enjoys an interrogation. And what gets said in the game stays between you: no bringing it up in next week's argument, no retelling it to friends.
