How to play truth or dare as a couple

Truth or dare needs nothing but the two of you and a phone. Sit close, put the phone where you can both reach it, and decide who goes first. The game works the same way at every heat level, so you can start gently and turn it up when you both feel like it.

Pick a heat level together: Light, Flirty or Steamy. You can change it at any point between turns.
The player whose turn it is taps Truth or Dare. The game draws a prompt at random from that pile.
Answer the truth honestly, or do the dare. No half answers and no changing the subject.
If a prompt does not suit you, tap Truth or Dare again to draw a different one. No reason needed.
Pass the phone and swap turns. Keep going until you have had enough, or until the round of 50 prompts ends.

What each heat level means

The three levels share the same rules. What changes is how far the prompts go.

Light is the warm-up. Truths are about first impressions, favorite dates and the small things you like about each other. Dares are hugs, impressions, slow dances and silly voices. Nothing here would be awkward with the door open.

Flirty turns up the teasing. Truths ask what catches your eye and where you would like to be kissed. Dares involve whispers, lingering kisses and hands that stay a little longer than they need to.

Steamy is for when the doors are closed. Truths get into fantasies, what you want more of and what you have been too shy to ask for. Dares are bolder: clothes start to come off and kisses travel. The prompts stay suggestive and leave the details to you.

A good way to play is to start on Light for a few turns, then move up once you are both laughing. You can drop back down at any time.

Keeping it fun for both of you

Truth or dare works when both of you want to be playing. Agree on a level before you start, and treat it as a ceiling: moving down is always fine, moving up needs a yes from both of you.

Either of you can skip a prompt or stop the game at any time, with no explanation needed. Tap the button again to draw something else, and do not turn a skipped prompt into a topic. A pass is not a clue about anything.

Truths can land on tender spots. If an answer surprises you, thank your partner for it instead of cross-examining them. Questions asked out of curiosity keep the game going. Questions asked to win an argument end it.

Dares should feel good for the person doing them and the person receiving them. Check in with a quick "good?" when a dare gets physical, and change it if it is not. The best rounds end with you both wanting another one.
